чуть не забыли. Ребенок ведет себя хорошо. Бегает, играет. спит нормально, ест тоже не плохо. стул регулярный.

Я думаю, нет смысла ждать еще чего то. Температура 38 это уже причина что бы немедленно начинать обследование, а потом и лечение(главное не наоборот
). Мне странно слышать о выжидательной тактике в этом случае. Чего ждем то?
P.S. А почему Вы считаете маловероятной стрептококковую инфекцию у ребенка двух лет?

"Group A streptococci are normal inhabitants of the nasopharinx...The incidence of disease depends on the age of the child...Generally,incidence is lowest in the infant...Streptococcal infection of the skin is most common in children under 6 yr,Streptococcal pharyngitis is most common between 5 and 15 yr.Streptococcal disease, including Scarlet Fever, is uncommon in children less than 3 yr of age...
