Project Soomaa means huge bogs, rivers that flood over its banks now and then, flood pains that extend on riversides, park meadows in flowers, and forests that surround all this. On more than two thirds of the national park territory any management activity is forbidden. There is possible to enjoy the charm of wildlife on different nature trails. Soomaa National Park was established in 1993 in order to protect large mires, floodplain meadows and forests in Estonia, and to preserve and present cultural lore characteristic to this area. The total national park area is 37 117 ha. 524 species of vascular plants, 172 species of birds and 46 species of mammals have been found in Soomaa. Lots of them are protected and belong to the Estonian Red Data Book. More information on www.soomaa.com, www.soomaa.ee. The old Tipu school house was built in 1896 and functioned until 1964. Since then it was frequently used by university biology students to explore the fauna and flora of Soomaa. The workcamps, carried out by Soomaa ex-EVS volunteers, will be a beginning of work to stop the decay of the house and give back its purpose. It is a part of bigger project to transform Tipu schoolhouse into a nature school, which is supported by the “Soomaa Friends Association”, Tartu University, Soomaa National Park and ex-EVS volunteers. Work Restoring the old Tipu school house: painting the facade, windows, also walls inside; building wooden furniture. Accommodation In own tents or inside the house; volunteers will cook together. Rather simple facilities - no showers, washing in the river nearby. However there will be possibility to go to sauna. Location Soomaa National Park is situated in South-Estonia. National Park lies on two counties – Parnumaa and Viljandimaa. Nearest towns are Viljandi and Parnu. More information on www.viljandi.ee , www.parnu.ee and www.visitestonia.com Terminal Airport, harbour, bus and train stations in Tallinn; then bus to Parnu and another one from Parnu to Riisa, where volunteers will be picked up at the bus stop. Special requirements No special skills are needed. However carpenters are particular welcome! Volunteers should be interested in nature and should not be afraid of mosquitoes to enjoy a wonderful Estonian summer. You should bring own tent and sleeping-bags, also dishes, working clothes and gloves, rain gear, etc. Definitely bring mosquito cream and repellent. Camp language is English. Leisure time Getting to know the surrounding nature - mires, meadows, forest: hiking, canoeing, just enjoying!!! Also meeting Estonian culture - sauna, one-log-boats, history and traditions. Visits to Viljandi and Parnu are possible.

Лично я выбирала по месту расположения . Большой популярностью пользуется Германия . Туда знаю много преимуществ - виза для волонтера предоставляется бесплатно , а если еще если написать анкету волонтера непосредственно в организацию ( тоесть без посредников ) то взнос для россиян будет 30 евро ( в прошолм году вообще бесплатно ) ( оговорюсь организация немецкая , и если ты едешь в германию как волонтер , то взнос 30 , если от этой организации в другую страну , то это уже 150 )НО они возвращают тебе 100 евро за дорогу , хоть ты потратил на автобусе или на самолете , все равно 100 твоя . Если больше этой суммы , то это уже твои проблемы . Кстати , как выяснилось трое моих одногруппников такам макаром были в германии этом летом ( впрочем как и до этого )
Эта организация занимается восстановление кладбищ солдатов( вроде как ). Условий жизни там не особо рассказывали , но учитывая каждогоднюю посещаемость ..... выводы следуют. Лагеря бывают и в россии . Если осталось желание учавствовать в волонтерстве ... то позаботиться надо бы сейчас , поесть зимой , а то в лагерь берут по 2 человека из страны .
